On 11/12/17 (Sunday) at 11:30 AM in the parking lot of a church in Rockford, IL a female parishioner was leaving the morning service. While she was walking to her vehicle, a w/m, 33 years old approached her & demanded her purse or he would shoot her. The female complied & the subject fled & was arrested later in the day. Robberies in church parking lots after services are a frequent motive for church violence.

Security Tips:

  • Your church security must remain vigilant of this time type of crime.
  • They must not become complacent in their duties. Church security personnel should monitor the sanctuary and parking lot for 5 to 10 minutes after services.
  • Advise your security team to do their best and try not to leave church immediately after service.
